Gilbert Auyeung established Gilbert’s Bar & Grill in 1993. Originally located off Aberdeen near the South Plains Mall, Gilberts Bar & Grill brought to Lubbock an innovated twist on typical dining. Throughout the week choose from a variety of foods from Mexican to American, with the best Chinese food in Texas every Saturday night.
Gilbert, a native of Hong Kong moved to Lubbock when he was a teenager with his family. He studied Computer Science at Texas Tech but found his love in culinary arts. Gilbert opened his restaurant with years of experience in the restaurant business and knew it would take hard work and dedication to survive in the industry.
Gilberts popularity has grown throughout the years by word of mouth with no advertising. Along with the restaurant, Gilbert’s is known for the best catering service in West Texas.
In 2005, Gilbert’s Bar & Grill had to relocate to its current location right off of Marsha Sharp Highway in between Quaker and Slide. After 18 years of successful business Gilbert’s Bar & Grill is known for the best Chinese food in Lubbock and is here to stay.
